Brady was very quick in getting back to us to solving our gas problem. The galvanised pipe from the meter had rusted and was leaking , this required several cobble stones to be lifted and soil to be dug out to uncover pipe and remove it . The pipe was rerouted and reconnected to existing gas line under the house , and extra brackets installed on pipe work enabling our supply to the hot water service & wall furnace . Cobble stones were replaced and area and debris cleaned up , I would recommend Brady & Fix it right plumbing to anybody for their prompt , polite , and professional service.

Plumbers in central Geelong, Newtown and Geelong West

Fix-It Right works right across Geelong and the Bellarine, and we've done more than 2,000 jobs around the region in the last two years. Nearly a thousand of those are around Belmont, Highton and the growth suburbs, and close to five hundred around Lara and the northern suburbs, so this is a region we're in every day.

Central Geelong is a city of its own: the waterfront and CBD, the grand period homes of Newtown and Geelong West, and the established and post-war suburbs north towards Corio and Norlane. The housing runs from Victorian and Edwardian homes with old sewers through to newer places in the growth suburbs, so we see the full range.

The call we get most across Geelong is blocked drains, more than a quarter of the work, and that fits the ground here. The clay soils through this part of Victoria move with the seasons and are hard on older pipework, and the mature trees in the established streets send roots into the old sewer lines. More than a third of the blocked drains we clear around Geelong involve tree roots, so when a drain blocks we camera the line and find the real cause rather than just clearing it.

The rest is the everyday plumbing of a big region: taps, toilets, hot water and leak detection, in family homes from the city out to the coast. Whatever it is, we carry what's needed to fix it on the spot wherever we can.

Out on the Bellarine and the Surf Coast, from Leopold and Ocean Grove to Torquay and the towns along the Great Ocean Road, it's a mix of permanent homes and holiday houses with a few hundred jobs between them, and coastal conditions that are harder on plumbing over time. We cover all of it, and each of those areas has its own page below.

Whatever the job and wherever you are in Geelong, we find the actual cause rather than patching the symptom, and we back it with our 10-year workmanship guarantee. That's been the Fix-It Right way from the start.

The same plumber, start to finish

The plumber who comes out and works out what's wrong is the one who fixes it, and he stays with your job from start to finish until it's done properly, top to bottom. We don't send one person to look and another to do the work, and we never pull your plumber off your job to chase the next call. Not many plumbing companies anywhere are that strict about it, and it's why the job gets done right the first time.

Highly recommend Ryan. He was prompt, communication was excellent and his advice was honest and clear.
David Noonan

Ryan's into the gym and keeping active, the outdoors, and a trip to the cinema, and he's a keen follower of sport with a real interest in muscle cars. On the tools he likes the variety of maintenance plumbing, no two days the same rather than the same tasks on repeat, and he enjoys getting to know our customers, understanding what they need and helping them out. Most of all, Ryan takes pride in fixing a job properly so it stays fixed.

Why we fix it so it lasts, and why that's cheaper for you

Most plumbing gets fixed twice. Once when it breaks, and again when the quick fix gives out. The first visit is rarely the expensive part. The expensive part is the second bill, the day off work, and the water that got into the floor while nobody was looking.

I learned that in 2008 on a toilet in Seaford. The customer's previous plumber had been out every three months for a year, adding a washer each time and charging a small fee. Four visits for the same leak. It wasn't the washer. It was a thirty-year-old valve being hammered by pressure that was too high. We replaced the valve, regulated the pressure, and it was fixed. Not for three months. For good.

That's the job we want to do at your place. Once. Then you forget our name, which honestly is the best review a plumber can get.

The Service Call

How a Fix-It Right plumber works in your Geelong home

  1. We take the time to understand your concern.

    We Say G'day

Most people have no idea what's about to happen when a plumber walks in. How long it'll take. What it'll cost. Whether they'll be talked into something. If they've never used us before, they're standing there with a head full of questions they haven't asked yet.

So the first thing our plumber does isn't plumbing.

They confirm your name. They check the van's not blocking you in. They ask you to tell them more about what's been happening. They ask whether you'd like shoes on or off. Then they ask if they can take thirty seconds to explain how the visit will go.

    They ask. It's your house.

Those thirty seconds are the whole point. Once you know what's coming, the questions stop being worries. You can see the person in front of you has done this before.

  2. Thorough evaluation. A full check of the system, not just the symptom.

    We Listen

Years ago I took a call late on a Saturday afternoon in Edithvale. Their old hot water system had split, family with kids to get to bed. I put in the unit I'd have chosen for my own house, tested it, got paid, and left thinking I'd done a good job.

They rang the next morning. A pipe had let go overnight and flooded the bathroom through into the house. The carpet was ruined.

I went straight back. It was a flexi hose, rusted through, years old. It had nothing to do with the work I'd done and it was going to fail whether I'd been there or not. It just happened to go that night.

But I'd been in that house. I'd been standing next to it. And I hadn't looked.

So now we look at everything. Every job, every house, whether you called us about it or not. The thing that floods your house at two in the morning is almost never the thing you rang about.

Before they start looking, your plumber will say something like this:

"I'm going to check the rest of the plumbing to make sure everything's in good shape. I'm not expecting to find anything, but if I do, is that something you'd like to know about?"

Most people say yes. Some say no, and that's fine too.

  3. Clear choices, explained in plain English. Nothing happens until you say yes.

    We Explain Your Options

Plenty of trades will ask what you're looking to spend before they'll give you a price. We don't do that. You can't answer it properly until you know what things cost, and asking first only tells us how much you'll wear.

The plumbing in a house is usually all linked, so we look at the whole system before we put a price on anything.

Then you get three options. The first is the fix that gets you out of trouble. The last takes care of everything we found. And there's one in between.

Then we pass it over to you. You know your house and what can wait.

All of them are proper fixes. And whatever you see before we start is what's on the invoice at the end.

  4. Most jobs sorted on the day.

    We Get To Work

Once you've chosen, we start. Not another appointment, not another plumber. The same person who looked at it and priced it does the work, straight away.

That matters more than it sounds. When the person quoting is the person doing the job, they can't hand you a number they wouldn't want to stand behind an hour later. And they're not watching the clock to get to the next one. There's no more important customer than the one we're standing in front of.

Every job runs to the same list, start to finish. Drop sheets down, water off, the work done properly, and the place left the way they found it.

My dad said if something's worth doing, it's worth doing right. He was talking about the house he was building for us to live in. That's the standard we ask our plumbers to work to in yours.

  5. The five-star finish.

We Show You Your New Plumbing

Before your plumber leaves, they'll walk you through what they've done. Not a summary from the driveway. They'll actually show you the work, and how to use anything new if there's something to learn.

It's the same list we went through at the start. This is where you get to check we did what we said we'd do, while the person who did it is still standing next to you.

Then we sort the paperwork and payment out on the spot, so there's nothing landing in your inbox next week for work you never saw.

The person behind the name

“If something's worth doing, it's worth doing right.”

Richie learned that from his dad in a shed in Langwarrin, spent four years welding food-grade stainless where a weld is either right or it isn't, and started the business in 2007 with an ad in the local paper and a ute he set up himself. In 2015 he renamed it after his dad's rule: Fix-It Right. Every plumber on the team still trains with him weekly.

Geelong plumbing questions

Do you cover central Geelong and the suburbs?

Yes. We work right across central Geelong, Newtown, Geelong West, East Geelong, Newcomb and the northern suburbs like Corio and Norlane, as well as the Bellarine and the Surf Coast.

Why do drains block so often around Geelong?

It's the clay soils and the mature trees. The reactive clay through the region moves with the seasons and is hard on older pipework, and roots from established trees find their way into the old sewer lines. More than a third of the blocked drains we clear around Geelong involve tree roots, so we camera the line and find the cause rather than just clearing it.

Do you work on older Geelong homes with old pipes?

Yes, plenty. Newtown, Geelong West and the older streets have Victorian and Edwardian homes with old sewers and galvanised pipes. We know what to look for and sort the cause, not just the symptom.

Who's my water authority in Geelong?

Barwon Water covers Geelong, the Bellarine and the Surf Coast. If the issue is at the meter or the sewer connection at the street, that's their responsibility, and we'll help you work out what's yours and what's theirs.

Do you cover the Bellarine and the Surf Coast?

Yes. We cover the Bellarine towns like Leopold, Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads and Portarlington, and the Surf Coast from Torquay down to Anglesea and Lorne. Each of those areas has its own page with the local detail.

My hot water's gone in Geelong, can you help?

Yes. We carry the common hot water systems on the vans, so if yours can't be repaired we can often have a new one in and running the same day.
